Long exposure on my favourite corner - a taxi came past into the village and then fifteen minutes later came out the same way. By that time I had got my camera settings perfect and got this lovely shot - only been cropped in photoshop, nothing else required...!

Behind The Lens

Location

The corner just before you enter the village of Gilmorton, Leicestershire, England - it's the nearest corner of interest to where I was living at the time...

Time

Between 8pm when the kids are asleep and 10pm when I am asleep (hopefully!)

Lighting

The moon was low or not above the horizon so most of the ambient light was from the city of Leicester in the background...

Equipment

Canon 450D - 18-55mm lens, Tripod, cable release

Inspiration

Working full time and having young kids means that in the winter, low light photography is a great chance to hone your skills and get some dramatic pictures

Editing

Cropped and contrast adjust - that's all...

In my camera bag

As above plus a 50mm lens and reflector for portraits - simple life for me

Feedback

Be patient and if necessary return to a location more than once, keep returning and don't give up - a few days before this shot, I got a tractor on the same corner. You wouldn't expect it having seen tractors in the daytime, relatively mundane things but at night they are lit up like Christmas trees. But it was the purple light on this taxi that made the shot for me...!
