Location
I took this photo while touring Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There was a lovely peacock with the most vibrant colors I've ever seen. When I saw the colors in his feathers, I knew it would make an interesting and colorful photograph.Time
It was mid-afternoon on a day that started out with a light rain. As the day went on, the skies began to clear and the sun shone brightly. In this particular area of the gardens, the peacocks frequently interact with visitors. I got so tickled as it neared my daughter, who ran for the hills!Lighting
I took this photo in full sun, as there is a break in the tree cover in this particular area of the gardens.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Fujifilm Finepix S1. No tripod was used. Aperture was f/5.1 with an ISO of 100.Inspiration
I love to take photos of nature. The colors in his feathers were so beautiful and vibrant. The relation of the feathers to one another just lent itself to such a beautiful abstract composition.Editing
I prefer to do as little post processing as possible to allow the viewer to "see" the subject in it's natural state of beauty, however, at times I do edit my photos. In this particular photo, I did boost the saturation minimally. In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D5200 with my 200 lens and my wide angle lens. I also carry my UV and ND filters. I always carry an extra battery, because you never want to be in a position where you have to miss the "shot of a lifetime". I also have my mini tripod.Feedback
Be patient! Also, look for opportunities to capture the details.
