Location
This photo was taken in Gala Yuzawa in Yuzawa, Niigita Prefecture in Japan onboard the gondola.Time
This was mid-morning, when we ascended to the slopes on the mountain from the base to start our snowboard and ski lessons.Lighting
Snow days are always difficult to shoot, so upping the EV a bit or adjusting the shadows and highlights were key to getting a brighter photo that pops. It was also a cloudy day.Equipment
I just used my mobile phone camera, a Huawei P30 Pro. I just had to capture this scene even if I didn't bring my regular DSLR or Micro 4/3 cameras with me this time.Inspiration
I love snowy landscapes like this. Coming from a tropical country, we rarely see sceneries like this and despite the fact that I didn't come with my regular photography equipment, I had to document this memory.Editing
Yes, I adjusted the shadows and highlights as well as contract and clarity. Snow photos come out usually dull. When I use my DSLR or Micro 4/3, I would normally up the EV. But didn't have time to change the settings on my mobile phone camera, so a bit of enhancement did the job.In my camera bag
I would normally bring my Olympus micro 4/3 camera at the very least during a leisure trip, but decided to opt out this time as I had so much clothes to wear, and kids to take care of. So I decided to just bring my handy Huawei P30 Pro which has an excellent camera.Feedback
I'm sure many of you have heard this, but a good photo is not about using the best equipment. The best camera is the one you bring with you all the time. Practice your eye on shots like this, and you can use any camera you have. And learn to use the Pro mode of these mobile phone cameras, it does wonders too :-)
