Two red jungle cactus flowers, the top one is Disocactus ackermannii, a smallish red species and mainly responsible for the red coloring in modern hybrids, and the one on the bottom is one of those hybrids, an unknown, purchased without label. This image shows the particular sheen that cactus flowers in particular possess, though not uniquely. Ice plants, Mesembryanthemum, are a good example.
