Beautiful photo of St. Mary's on Lake Bled. I took some photos of the island and church and they are nothing compared to your photo! I guess that validates the old saying "the early bird gets trhe worm!" I was vacationing and too lazy to get up early! In any case, congrats on a great capture!

Behind The Lens

Location

I went to Slovenia to take some photos of Bled.

Time

I got up early, an hour before sunrise. I was in a hurry to find the best place. I set up my tripod and camera and waited for the sun to appear on the horizon. The sun came up at 7.30am .

Lighting

My accommodation was only for a few days. The first morning was foggy. The sun did not shine for hours. I stood for hours waiting for the moment but it never came. So I couldn't get a usable picture. The next morning was lucky because the sunrise was beautiful.

Equipment

That picture was taken with a Canon 5DMKIII. The lens was EF85L/1.4 IS I used a LEE filter and the camera was on a tripod.

Inspiration

This place is a favourite destination for photographers. The beauty of the place is outstanding. Around the lake, photographers from many different countries stood a few metres apart.

Editing

This is a panorama made by merging several images. In post-processing I used white balance, water level, cropping, and the Nik Collection plugin.

In my camera bag

On such a long trip, I take more with me. All my lenses , my filter kit with the camera body , my tripod and a flash in case I need it. Accessories like spare batteries, cards and cleaning tools .

Feedback

The choice of location and the technical equipment needed for a good picture . The time point when the lights are ideal is difficult to guess in advance. If you can do that, you're in luck.
