Location
The photo was taken at lake Obersee in central Switzerland.Time
It was early evening...Lighting
Well the sun did the lighting. I just had to lighten up the foreground during post-processing to enhance the structures of the ice.Equipment
I used my Canon 5d Mark IV, the lens EF 16-35 f4 and a tripod.Inspiration
I love this lake with the two valleys in the background and the mountain in the middle. And I also like the ice structures of frozen lakes.Editing
Aside from the usual (contrast, colors, ...) I had, as explained above, to lighten the foreground a little bit, but I always aim for a natural looking photo. In my camera bag
I always take my Canon 5d Mark II and the EF 16-35 mm f4 with me. It is my absolute favorite lens and I like it for city photography as well as landscapes because of the wide angle and its sharpness. Aditionally to the lens I use diverse neutral density and polar filters to control reflections and the effects of long exposures. And of course a tripod belongs to my basic equipment.Feedback
Go outside, use good equipment, take your time to wait for the right moment, keep yourself up to date with raw editing and most important: Enjoy nature!
