Location
I took this photo a lake Pfäffikon near Zurich in Switzerland.Time
The photo was taken during the evening blue hour. It was a very clear january day, therefore you can see the last evening light as well as the stars and the moon.Lighting
The photo is a long exposure of 5 seconds. There was no wind, so the 5 seconds were enough to smoothen the water surface and have the start visible as points...Equipment
I used my Canon 5d Mark IV and the EF 16-35 f4 lens. The camera stood on a Sirui tripod.Inspiration
I took the photo during a time where I had a huge fascination of piers. The lake Pfäffikon has about 20 such piers around the lake and was therefore a favorite photo spot of mine at that time. The piers give a nice foreground for lake photography and are also great places to relax after a working day.Editing
My first step is always to do major adjustments in Camera Raw. Afterwards I use photoshop for some small adjustments. In my camera bag
I always take my Canon 5d Mark IV and the EF 16-35 mm f4 with me. It is my absolute favorite lens and I like it for city photography as well as landscapes because of the wide angle and its sharpness. Aditionally to the lens I use diverse neutral density and polar filters to control reflections and the effects of long exposures. And of course a tripod belongs to my basic equipment.Feedback
Look for nice locations, prepare for the right lighting, time of day, and just wait for the perfect moment...
