Location
I took picture on the Vashon Island in WA state. The fun adults accompanied the children across the road to feed the neighbors' horses while the other grown ups kept busy reconfiguring the meal room appropriately from our dinner for the desert moments.Time
It was between 3-4 pm (about 1 hour before sunset) on the Thanksgiving day of 2017.Lighting
The sunshine was an unusually pleasant surprise for a fall winter day in WA state. The pasture was an open field amid evergreen trees which scattered and diffused the westerly sun. I did not wait for sunset because positioning the sun in the backdrop of any photo then would be very challenging.Equipment
I hand held the D600 mounted with the Nikon AF 70-210mm f4-5.6 D because it was necessary to maintain fluid mobility because I want to be a "fun" adult and be able to interact and play with children while we took our stroll and built up the appetite for desert.Inspiration
I was hoping for some candid pictures for show and tell because we were due back with the main group for desert and more quality times.Editing
Post processing was minimal: I always under e pose image to safeguard details of inevitable highlights. Consequently, I needed to adjust exposure to restore the shadow and shades. In my camera bag
I left my camera bag behind (in the main hose). In that bag were a Nikon D3300 body, Sigma AF 300mm F4 APO, Nikon 28-80mm f 3.5-5.6 D, Nikon AI-S 55mm f2. 8 Micro and a TTL Yongnuo. 586ex flash.Feedback
Sometimes, more equipment may not necessary be better. I attribute any pixie magic to the good fortunes of being among good companies and being at the fun place at the fun time.
