This photo was taken down by the Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas.Time
It was the middle of July around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.Lighting
I was actually out on a photo shoot when I captured this. I remember having so much trouble with that afternoon sun. It was hard to get good photos of the model. However, when I found this tree it was in a perfectly lighted spot. That is part of what drew me to it. The fact that the light was so perfect.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7200 with a 17-70mm Sigma lens.Inspiration
I had walked over to the trees and happened to see this one tree with this redish sap running down it's trunk. It immediately made me think "this tree looks like it is bleeding". I just loved everything about what I saw. The tree, the sap, and the way the natural light around me was so perfect. It drew me in and this photo is the result.Editing
I made a few small adjustments to the lighting and color. No further processing was necessary. In my camera bag
I am usually carrying my Nikon D7200, Sigma 17-70mm lens, Peak Design shoulder strap (for camera), lens cleaner, and just in case a polarizer and ND filter.Feedback
I guess my advice would be to come visit Wimberley, Texas in July. Find a public part of the Blanco River to explore. Maybe you will find one of these trees along there. (Unfortunately I am not sure the species of tree.)
