Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Norway on the famous Atlantic highway .I had hopes to have some waves on the see ,but was extremely peaceful :) Happy from the results .

Time

It was early , around 8 or 9 am , we traveled thru Norway whit my dutch father in law Hans.It was October,quite cold in Norway .We stoped for some pictures ,and he was very patience whit me /it's not easy to be whit a photographer / ,so I could take my time to find my perfect spot . The road is quite busy ,so I needed to hunt for I while for my moment .I think took about hour to have it .I didn't have a tripod ,no gloves neither ,so I took the picture handheld .The price was super red, freezing hands and reminder for life to have a tripod :) . The award for the patience of my co-passenger was a good ,hot coffee in the next town ,which is very valuable in the cold Norway :)

Lighting

The light in Norway is absolutely unbelievable .It's totally the best country for photography . You can see the cloudy sky ,but the light on the road was enough and even had water reflections from the clouds . I wish to say more about my amazing skills to get it ,but no . I have many pictures from Norway ,and all of them looks like a lot of work in Photoshop . Absolutely not . I Their is something whit the atmosphere there and you can have only lovely pictures .

Equipment

I used my Canon 5d Mark III , whit my 24 - 105 mm lens .Actually It was my one month old camera and I didn't have any other lens : ) No tripod ,no remote control ,no flash .

Inspiration

I have very interesting life .I'm leaving in a different countries for a few years and after that going to the next one . By that time I'm trying to get as much as possible from the life of it on my camera . It was my last week in Norway ,and I still didn't have picture of the famous Atlantic highway and it's like a landmark for the country . It's amazing engineering skills there .Very interesting shape of the bride , builded by keeping the ruff stile of the nature .The size is impressive ,you can see the car in the middle of the bride .It looks like a spot :) . I've been on many amazing places of the world ,but this one os one of my very specials .

Editing

Like I sad ,the pictures from Norway doesn't need to much processing . For this one I proceed the RAW for the sky ,and one more time for the rest in LR.Combined in photoshop and a little touch of color balance and sharpening .

In my camera bag

Normally I repack my bag ,depending where I'm going to shoot . 100 % of the time I will have my Canon 5d Mark III whit 24- 105 mm lens . I will have my Hoya proud 1000 filter ,whit a simple phottix remote control and my globetrotter tripod from MeFoto. I'm using this 90 % of the time . The mobile phones become very powerful this days . They are great solution if you don't have your camera ,but you see the perfect picture in front of you . I use my Samsung 7s and iPhone 6s for it . Both have great cameras and it's impressive what you can do whit it this days . There is one guy from Turkey ,he use only mobile phone and have some amazing pictures . You just need your eyes ,your knowledge and skills , the rest it's just a tools !

Feedback

Take your time ,find your best spot ,wait for your best light and best composition . Even the most expensive camera will not make a masterpiece whiteout you . Even the cheapest camera will make amazing thinks if you know what you doing and what you searching for . When your not on the field use the time to learn . It's easy to find a lot of materials now . Use it ,understand it ,so when the time comes ,you will be ready . I don't think there is a general rule in art .That's why is beautiful. The genius of our history are the different ones . The guys who allowed them self to think outside of the box ,to not fallow the rules . But for doing it ,the new the rules first .This is the only way ,to know where is the moment to go out of it !
