Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the field of my acreage property. It was surrounded by beautiful greenery and provided gorgeous green backdrops for multiple photo sessions !

Time

I took this photo during the golden hour ! I remember this shoot because I am still scratching my mosquito bites from it ! The baby in the photo is my youngest son Heath. He was about a month and a half old and I had my mom with me fanning the mosquitos off of him while I shot ! They were terrible ! But I love to photograph babies and children outdoors in nature so you just have improvise with insect repelling ways when dealing with babies when you don’t want to use chemicals!

Lighting

The magically delicious golden hour ! I love natural light

Equipment

This was shot with a Sony a850 and 50 mm prime lens using natural light

Inspiration

Capturing photos of my own babies while their little is very important and special to me! The stage of when their little goes by way too fast !

Editing

I just added a little bit of warmth to the photo

In my camera bag

Besides my two Sony full frame camera bodies and my fav lenses (50mm,85m,70-200mm,100mm macro ) I always have a little bag of skittles ! Good for a quick bite during shoots as a sugar rush and a bribing tool while photographing my own kids ;)

Feedback

Just keep shooting , no picture of your kid is a bad picture ! Even if you have to shoot 1000 to end up with one “wall worthy “ one, that just means have 999 other ones to cherish as well.
