Location
Our neighbor down the lane from our home in the Welsh Mountains near Morgantown, PA grows these beautiful Iris every year. They were originally planted there by her mother....who is nearing 100 years old. She is kind enough to let me photograph her flower garden each year. This one particularly grabbed my attention because of its' unique peach coloring.Time
This photo was taken in mid-morning. By facing my camera in the direction of the sun, I was able to avoid any shadowing on the flower itself and still get a brightly lit image of the flower.Lighting
No special lighting was required. I let the natural sunlight serve as lighting for this image. By facing my camera in the direction of the sun, I was able to avoid any shadowing on the flower itself and still get a brightly lit image of the flower.Equipment
The photo was taken with a FinePix S9450W on the macro setting. No flash was required nor any other additional equipment.Inspiration
I am always inspired by the beauty of nature. And flowers are some of my favorite subjects. As a young child growing up in Missouri, I had a elderly neighbor woman who belonged to a flower club in town and she grew over a hundred varieties of Iris. They became my favorite flower ever.Editing
No particular post processing was required. I did use Filter Forge's 'Picture Perfect' to filter out any minor imperfections for the final image. In my camera bag
My FinePix S9450W camera along with plenty of batteries.Feedback
Get to know your equipment is the best advice I can provide. Through practice and experimentation I have learned to make the most out of equipment that is certainly less than high end, but with amazing results.
