Location
This was taken from the riverside walkway in Bath.Time
This was taken early afternoon on a fairly average autumn day.Lighting
The day was overcast with a lot of cloud cover but with enough of a breeze to keep the clouds moving. The lighting, as a result, was fairly flat but with enough contrast in the sky to keep it interesting.Equipment
This was taken with a Olympus E410 and an Olympus 40-150 mm lens.Inspiration
This is one of the classic shots of Bath, that everyone in the area has in their portfolio. This was an attempt to do something more than just a traight record shot.Editing
This was taken as a RAW image and converted using RawTherapee software to produce a working picture. I then edited it in Photishop with Topaz filters to enhance the contrast of the clouds and the stone work. I also added a little warmth to the picture to recreate the warmth of the Bath stone and enahanced the detail. In my camera bag
These dfays I don't have more than the camera, a 14-40 lens and a 40-150 lens and a circular polariser. With this location being close to home I can easily come back another time with different lenses or additional equipment.Feedback
If the sky is overcast always look to see if there is any contrast between layers of clouds. If there is then take your exposure from the sky to keep as much detail and contrast as you can. Any shadows in the rest of the picture can usually be corrected later. There are few pictures that really look good against a plain white sky.
