The beach was foggy and misty, exactly the scene I wanted. Surfers, photographers, and walkers shared the early morning beach. It was a very gray environment and the only color were the patches of blue sky and the bit of green moss on the big rock in the foreground. It's NOT selective coloring.

Very cool perspective, Almost looks like a selective color shot the way the sky is void of much color.

Absolute stunning capture.........fantastic composition and lighting. It almost looks like a B&W image, but I know that the light does play tricks on you even in mid day on a cloudy day.

You just keep knocking my socks off! Look at all the silver tones! Water looks like silk and the fog gives it such a mysterious and romantic atmosphere.

Fog & Sea finalist!!! Good for you Kay. This is my of my favorites. It almost fools you in to thinking it's a mono with selective coloring added into it. This is a well deserved award.

The lighting was beautiful because of the light fog, but a weak sun coming up over the mountains to give some good light.Equipment
Canon 5D Mk III, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM AF Lens. No tripod, flash,Inspiration
I liked the fog with the bright spots of mossy boulders at the water's edge. It's not selective coloring as some people thought. Everything was grayish except for the moss.Editing
Adpbe Camera RAW where I did as much as possible. Brought it into Photoshop CC. ON1 Effects, Topaz Clarity for additional pop, Topaz Denoise and Detail. Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer to bring out the blue in the water and green on the rocks, Brightness/Contrast Adjustment layer. In my camera bag
It depends on what I'm doing (and how much hiking is involved). Because we had to walk about a mile through a rainforest to get to this beach (yes, that's the only access), I just brought a bag, one camera body (Canon 5D Mk III), one lens (Canon 24-105mm f/4L). No tripod. Sometimes I take it all: Canon 5D Mk III and 60D camera bodies, extra media, cleaning materials, tripod, polarizers for all lenses, neutral density filters of all strength for all lenses, 100-400mm, 16-35mm lens, 24-105mm lens, 100mm macro lens, all of them Canon L-series lenses. Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
Go early morning when the divers and fishermen are there to add perspective to your photos. You also have more privacy before the hordes get there.
