Do you use some kind of time lapse to get all that detail? It's stunning

Actually I was shooting a timelapse, but I used a single frame for this. Shutter speed is 1 second.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot from Monte dei Cappuccini in Turin.

Time

I was shooting a day to night timelapse from there. This is one frame of the timelapse and it was taken about 30 minutes after the sunset.

Lighting

For this shot I used a fading natural light from the blue hour and city lights turned on.

Equipment

As I said I was shooting a timelapse. The view from Monte dei Cappuccini is very wide, so I mounted a motorized panoramic head called eMotimo TB3 on a tripod and used a pan movement to shoot the city. About the camera, it was a Sony a7S with a 24-70 mm lens.

Inspiration

Thsi view is very popular in Italy and is surely the best view over the Mole Antonelliana and the city of Turin. I visit this place every time I go to Turin, just to enjoy the view and shoot some pictures.

Editing

Just normal work around on lightroom and a LUT applyed on the image in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I usually take my Sony a7S with a 16-35 mm Zeiss lens and a Sony RX10 III, a tripod, an eMotimo TB3 for timelapses and a couple of ND filters.

Feedback

If you want to shoot a city skyline, I think the best moment of the day is the blue hour. I prefer it over the golden hour and any other moment because the lights turned on are just amazing in combination with that fading natural light.
