Location
I took this photo at Villa Panza in Varese, a wonderful private house which became a FAI property (Italian National Trust).Time
It was March 21th at 3 PM, cloudy day. I was there for the Spring Day, when you can visit the House for free once a year.Lighting
Natual light was soft thanks to the clouds. I just needed a more dramatic scene, so I added few adjustments to lights in Photoshop.Equipment
I used a Sony a7S with a 24-70 mm lens (focal length 70mm here), but unfortunately I could not use any tripod. I just shot handheld at 1/160 of a second at f/7,1.Inspiration
I didn't know about this beautiful avenue, I just arrived there and shot this.Editing
Post-processing here is everything. The original RAW image was just flat and inexpressive, but the composition was so good that I had to pull of something from there. I played a lot with curves and masks to create soft shadows and a central point of light to bring the attention to the window and create the mystery. In my camera bag
I usually take my Sony A7s with a 24-70 mm Zeiss lens and a 70-200 mm Canon lens with a metabones adapter. A tripod, an eMotimo TB3 for timelaspes and a couple of ND filters.Feedback
Always take your camera with you and when you don't have a tripod, think up of something you can shoot without it!
