Location
This was captured by the lake Neuer See at the Tiergarten park in Berlin. I was in Berlin for a one week photo assignment.Time
I captured this after the days work at around 10 PM. It had been a long day and I was ready to to back to my hotel. How ever the light at the lake looked interesting and I was sure my camera would see even more than I did so I decided to grab my camera one more time.Lighting
The light is available light. It's mixture of the remains of daylight and some spot lights.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF17-40mm f/4L lens. Camera was supported against a bench.Inspiration
It was the light. There where a little bit day light left in the sky and couple of lamps lid up some of the trees. The red, green, blue colors were visible by they really popped up only at the post.Editing
This is a single image. To recover as much details from the shadows I possible could I worked using Lightroom Basic settings. Also color temperature has been adjusted a bit. The water has a slightly different temperature than the rest of the image. In my camera bag
The Canon 5D mk II is my primary camera. Some times I shoot with Panasonic GH 4 too. A Lumia 1020 I have always with me. When I have a longer lens attached to my camera it serves as a wide angel camera. The choice of lenses and flashes depends on the assignment.Feedback
Three simple tips for capturing long exposures: 1. support your camera well. 2. use manual mode. 3. experiment with different exposure times. And if you are using a DSLR (not applicable for mirrorless) use mirror lock-up to prevent any camera shake and remember to cover the viewfinder to prevent any light leaks.
