Location
This image was taken in my home studio in Texas. I am a self taught photographer who enjoys experimenting with light and different light sources.Time
Can't really remember the time of day this was shot because it was in studio. I do love shooting outside in natural light however there is a whole new world in studio where you control the light!Lighting
The lighting I used with this image was home made lighting I made myself. Some of the lights you can buy for in studio headshot lighting is around $5000 dollars. It is really nice lighting however I did not have the budget for such lighting, so I did some research and built my own.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5DmII with a EF 100mm macro 2.8 L IS, Manfrotto 055 tripod, and my homemade lights.Inspiration
I had been studying headshot photography under Peter Hurley and needed some practice so I asked my wife to step in so I could test my new lights that I had made. We have be married for 31 years and she still turns me on!! So I asked her to give me a sexy look and when I snapped the image I was like oh my goodness!! She is amazing! Sorry getting a little carried away here! She is what inspires me to keep going!Editing
Pretty much the only post-processing here was a little color correction and some sharpening. In my camera bag
In my bag is a Canon 5DMII, EF 100mm macro 2.8 L IS, 50mm 1.4, 2-Canon 600EX-RT, Canon ST-E3-RT. I shoot most of the time with the EF 100m macro because it is such an amazing lens and very sharp.Feedback
Don't let equipment or money get in the way of capturing images. Some of my published work and prints I have sold were taken with a point and shoot or my iPhone. Remember it is not about the equipment but the 10 inches or so behind the view finder! Don't get caught up in the "if I only had" thought and find a way to use what you have to capture those images.
