Really beautiful work here. I like the way the vignetting as well as the highlight in this image draws your eye right tothe face. The eyes are sharp. A perfect shot. Well done.

Thanks! I believe that any subject you can photograph and add what you're feeling to, will look better!

The light, composition and subject is really good. I'm especially blown away by the color. What kind of camera and lens are you using?

Location
This is a photo of my daughter. During my 3 months parental leave in 2014, at my everyday stroller walk it sometimes happened that I made a stop at various parks for my daughter to play around. This photo is taken in a park outside Årstaskolan (The name of a school) in Uppsala, Sweden in late November 2014.Time
The photo is taken at around 3pm during sunset (sunset is very early here during the winter).Lighting
Everything is about the light in my photos, and of course the endless wonders of my daughter. In this particular photo, the light source is natural light from a low setting sun. The sun's rays come down through the canopy slightly behind. She holds up a stick against the light that she found on the ground. And in the light you should also be able to see her breath. The background consists of moist red-brown leaves that had fallen from the willow trees in the park - they can look a bit purple, as seen in the photo. It's actually a quite dull and grey background but with the right colors on your subject and with good light it will be fine.Equipment
The photo is captured with a Sony A7 camera together with a Canon 135mm/f2 lens in manual focus. No tripod was used and no flash either. Just a camera and a lens - handheld.Inspiration
I saw the light coming down through the canopy while I walked by and decided to make a stop in order to take a few shots with her playing around on the ground. I also wanted to capture her breath in the light and was even spoiled by her lifting up a stick upwards towards the light and studying how the light hit it. An amazing moment really!Editing
The light is genuine but the colors are slightly enhanced. I have a personal preference and rule to never add things to a photo in post-processing that wasn't captured in the original shot. I may however remove stains, spots or scratch wounds etc.In my camera bag
I often go out with just the camera and one lens. My go-to lenses that I normally use is either a Canon 135mm/f2 L with an adapter or Samyang/Rokinon 85mm/f1.4. I can't decide which one of them is my favorite as I use them equally as much. All the lenses I own are manual focus. In my bag, if I bring one, I will pack spare batteries, a rocket-blower and sometimes a second lens with a shorter focal length like Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm/f0.95.Feedback
Mixing a colorful subject with a color-less background goes very well! I may even prefer it sometimes. The light is also very important and I always prefer capturing photos with natural light. I personally never use a flash - I'm too busy with the composition, exposure and manually focusing the lens. I would also like to recommend trying to capture a movement, moment or expression that will tell a story. It's an important ingredient in many photos.
