Location
This photo was take out at Pontoon Lake in September on the same day my Grandson came home from the hospitalTime
This was taken around midnightLighting
This is one of my favorite spots to capture the fall aurora as the lake is large at that point and captures a reflection perfectlyEquipment
Nikon D810 with a Zeiss Distagon 15mm lens. It was taken on a tripod using a remote shutter release.Inspiration
I live in one of the best areas in the world to capture the aurora and I am always out taking pictures at night whenever it is clear out and they are active.Editing
Processed from raw to jpg using ACRIn my camera bag
I usually carry my D810, a D800, the 15mm lens along with a Nikor 14-25, 24-70 and 70-200 plus a Sigma 50mm 1.8, a Sigma 150-500 and Nikor 70mm Macro lens. I also have cleaners, filters, flashlights and a second tripod.Feedback
Prepare for cold weather and make sure you have extra batteries. The cold is the biggest issue and the batteries tend to freeze. Make sure you have a sealed bag to put the camera in before you come indoors to help with the condensation.
