STUNNING! Also reminds me of a haunted house. Love the moon accent. Everything on the house stands out. Favorite.

Location
My wife and I went out cruising in the Endless Mountains late one afternoon, looking for abandoned barns and houses.Time
The late afternoon sun offers golden colors and nice soft shadows, always the best time for a cruise to nowhere.Lighting
In these cases, available light speaks for itself.Equipment
I chose one of my Nikon cameras with a mid-range zoom, leaving the camera bag and other equipment home...since the intent was to just explore. When you find something, you can always go back loaded...Inspiration
By the time we came across this house the sun had set, but the light was magical.Editing
I had taken about thirty photos, changing zoom for composition, and moving my feet ten to twenty yards left and right for different perspectives. The image I chose carried a warm glow, but I thought that it might be more interesting in B&W. The conversion, with some minor tweaks, blew my mind. A month later I captured an excellent moon shot, somehow connecting it back to the abandoned house. It was then a matter of placement and sizing. In my camera bag
Depending on project I will carry two bodies and three or four lenses, and the usual accessories...along with two tripods.Feedback
I'm an advocate of pre-planning, doing my homework, before going out; but there are times when casual finds something special. My advice is to have fun! Also know your camera intimately so you get the most out of it in unique---and sometimes really poor---lighting conditions. If you shoot enough (think maybe in years) the combination of your eyes and brain become light meter and composer. My eyes see the exact image and possible variations before I pick up the camera. If you develop this skill, it will change your photographic life forever.
