Location
This photograph was taken in Japan on my Haru (Spring) Sojourn in April 2019 at Toyama. Toyama is a coastal city on Japan’s main island, Honshu. In the center, Toyama Castle Park has a restored castle dating to the 1500s. I was spending quality time at Toyama-jo (Castle) and befriended a gorgeous Heron that was enjoying himself catching his many golden fish in the Castle Moat. In this instance I captured him with a catch that he was getting ready to consume and as this fish was a brilliant golden red I nick-named him Horatio Heron (after Haratio Caine my favorite CSI in CSI Miami) who is just as gorgeous!Time
This photograph was taken in the beginning of the afternoon, the sun was out and the reflection shadows and shimmers on the Castle Moat were absolutely stunning.Lighting
The natural light at this time in the afternoon was perfect and I loved the light and shade that the light reflected on the Ishigaki Stones and the water..Equipment
I used for this capture my Nikon Coolpix P1000, Aperture 12/5, Shutter 11/7483, Focal Length 109/25 and did not use a flash, but did take advantage of my Nikon CP P1000 125x optical zoom..Inspiration
I love Japanese Castles and also love that Water Birds and other Birds love spending time there also and some make the Castle their home. The beautiful Birds compliment these stunning castles and I love photographing them.Editing
Just a few tweaks of photo post processing using my HP photo editor for enhancing subtlety some color and clarity. In my camera bag
I normally don't carry that much in my photo shoot site travel bag, some spare batteries, photo cards and also a tripod depending on what camera I decide to take with me and a camera water proof protector just in case the weather changes.Feedback
Enjoy your passion, enjoy your individual special nuances. Focus and try to just be in the moment. Take your time, and be patient and keep a calm energy and demeanor especially if you are photographing Birds and Animals and be prepared to take many images and spend as much time as you can taking advantage of the natural light as it naturally changes.
