"Balance in Kashmir" ~ I captured this moment from my Shikara on Lake Nageen, Kashmir..as I was being silently paddled around. I felt completely in balance with all that is..I had found that place outwardly and inwardly and reconciled my fears and found prefect peace inside and outside.

Behind The Lens

Location
I captured this shot in 1987 as I was being paddled across Nagin lake in the foothills of the mountain Zabarwan in the east of beautiful Kashmir..
Time
This was early afternoon and the temperature was beautiful mild and balmy..
Lighting
The sky and mountains at exactly the right time and moment had mirrored and reflected themselves onto the serene calmness of Lake Nagin.
Equipment
I was using at that time a Ricoh AF-40 1:2.8 38mm Camera
Inspiration
Sadly I lost my fiancé back in1985, he was brutally stabbed to death/murdered and as we had planned to travel to India and Nepal on our honeymoon I decided to still go and so in 1987 two years when I was in a better frame of mind on my path of healing I did and it was a life changing and so so memorable experience. One of our dreams was to stay on a Houseboat in Kashmir and Kashmir was where I captured "Balance In Kashmir" in 1987. "Balance In Kashmir" was taken from my Shikara on Lake Nagin Kashmir ~it was a prefect moment where and when I felt completely in balance with all that it is.. I had found that place outwardly and inwardly and reconciled my fears and found perfect peace inside and outside..
Editing
My photographs from this journey to India and Nepal were developed on my return as Kodak Photograph Magna Print size and I couldn't wait to have them developed and in those days that was quite an expensive process so I was very patient and waited a few months to eventually have them all developed! So no tweaking was done they are as exactly as I took them at the time..
In my camera bag
I normally have quite a few items in my photograph bag these days, but back then just the usual extra batteries and loads of rolls of film..
Feedback
If it's possible, try to keep your camera on hand in your bag so when these magic moments happen in real time you can click away to capture them and keep them to remember them forever!
