Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo as part of some outtakes on my own home studio & bar, during a session for my History of Photography and Cameras project.

Time

Night was just about to begin when we took this shot, after a long day studying and creating photos with an ICA Volta camera from 1914.

Lighting

We used only the artificial light of this cocktails and drinks bar to compose this the lighting of this image.

Equipment

My Canon 80D and a Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 from the 60s.

Inspiration

We were on a beggining of 20th century vibe photographing with an ICA Volta camera, so we decided to make a few extra shots using the make up, clothes and accessories available around our original planned scenario.

Editing

There was nothing special about post-processing for this picture, considering it wasn´t even planned for that day. We enjoyed the result and decided to keep and publish them.

In my camera bag

I usually like to have close to me some close up filters, polarizers and a few effects, 5 to 7 lenses and two cameras (a full frame and a APS-C).

Feedback

A good advice to make a photo like this is to use all the time and resources you can get when you book a session with a great model. If your original ideas were already photographed and approved, take your last minutes or hours in studio to create something "out of the box!"
