Location
This photo was taken near the staircase outside my house. Completely unexpected, as this cat just decided to pay me a visit on a random cold day.
Time
Almost on the beggining of the night, this stray cat decided to "meow meow-ing" and the sound caught my attention. Got some new lenses I had used only a few times and went out to try some photos. The white color of "the scenario" and the cat´s fur ended on a great contrast, specially for a photo completely unexpected and out of my plans.
Lighting
Only natural lights for this photo. As I wasn´t sure about the cat´s reaction about my flashes or leds, I tried my best on many shots using the last minutes of sunlight and got some interesting results.
Equipment
I used my Canon 6D with a 85mm 1.8, recently acquired at that time. The only 1.8 I had before this one was a 50mm Canon and 1.4 Takumar. Having 85mm was really helpful to keep a distance from the subject and don´t let it run away scared.

Inspiration
I am most of the time doing portraits or macros. When this cat just appeared on my backyard I instantly noticed the way it was "posing" and somehow it reminded my of "The Lion King". After many attempts, this single pose came and I instantly noticed I got that "precious single moment that hardly would happen again".
Editing
Except by adjusting levels, there´s no post-processing. When you capture spontaneous acts and reactions, I think you shouldn´t spend much time on post-processing, increasing some non-natural details and possibilities on such a rare moment.
In my camera bag
I actually like to use my Canon 6D more than my 80D, but usually have a full frame and an APS-C available in my bag. About lenses, at least one zoom like 17-50mm Sigma 2.8 and all others usually are old manual lenses. My favs are my Helios 44-2 58mm 0 Series, Jupiter 21 200mm and Takumar 50mm 1.4.
Feedback
As I am not constantly taking pictures of pets, everytime I have this opportunity I try to pay attention to their reactions and ways to play or to call some attention. These moments are always offering great poses, faces, expressions and singular moments that if you put your camera in a multi-shot mode, you´ll certainly get an amazing shot!
