Male Long-tailed duck floating serenely on water looking at you with tail feathers vertical and resting beak on white frontal feathers- Pachydiplax longipennis
Photo taken in the earliest of spring days in the 200 foot channel separating the City Airport from Toronto mainland- There were a bevy of these Long-tailed ducks diving for food in the channel as it was an area warmer than the surrounding waters and protected somewhat - lot's of fun, very challenging to photograph as the birds are small and far away from the shoreline in the order of 75-100 feet and moving erratically in very subdued and flat lighting.
