Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Jökulsárlón Lagoon in Iceland.

Time

I took this photo around 2:00 PM in July.

Lighting

Iceland is so far north that in the summer time they have about 4 hours of "nighttime". However, when I visited Jökulsárlón Lagoon, it was mostly cloudy so the lighting was tricky and I needed to edit the image a bit in LightRoom.

Equipment

I used a Cannon 1300D. I did not use any other equipment

Inspiration

I have wanted to visit Iceland for years so this vacation was a dream come true. Jökulsárlón Lagoon was one of the many places I wanted to see on my trip.

Editing

I edited this photo in LightRoom. I lightened the image and added contrast to the sky as well as tinting the clouds blue.

In my camera bag

I typically have my Cannon Rebel T6i, telescope lens, filters, extra memory cards, cleaning cloth, flash, and my mini tripod in my bag. On longer trips I also pack my Cannon 1300D as my backup.

Feedback

The best part of this picture is the location. However, since this is such a big tourist location, this photo took patience. Patience for the crowds to disperse and for the lighting. There is nothing you can do about a cloudy day beyond waiting it out. Since I didn't have that luxury I had to make the best of it.
