Location
In Munich, Germany, during the street parade at the start of the Munich Oktoberfest.Time
Mid-afternoonLighting
It was an overcast day that eventually turned to rain. But it probably helped the lighting in the sense of having a very even light without any reflections and shadows from bright sunlight. In fact, you can get an idea of the consistent, light grey sky and even light from the reflection in the mouth of the tuba!Equipment
Canon 70D with standard Canon 18-55 lens. Hand-held.Inspiration
There are some great photo opportunities during the street parade of the Oktoberfest with lots of marching bands representing different towns, beer floats and other carriages, some with quite spectacular horses, performing artists and even occasional birds of prey. This was the second occasion that I had the chance to watch and photograph it.Editing
Nothing needed for this one, except a tiny bit of cropping. In my camera bag
Canon 70D, Canon 18-55 and 70-300 lenses, plus a screw-on, wide-angle macro lens.Feedback
For a large, well-attended event like this, probably the single most important thing is finding a good position to take photos from, which is sometimes easier said than done. This image is improved because the tuba player is specifically posing for the shot and it would not be as good if he was just passing in the normal way.
