This shot was taken at the top of Snowqualmie Pass outside of Seattle, WA.Time
My friend and I were just beginning our day of snowboarding. The clouds in the morning were low. This was taken around 9:20 am.Lighting
The sun was shining but the clouds were low. This created a bright almost whiteout conditions where the clouds were almost the same color as the snow.Equipment
This was taken on a GoPro hero 4. I had the camera mounted on an extension pole.Inspiration
As we were the riding the chair lift up the mountain I noticed that the clouds were low and thick. I couldn't see more than one chair in front of us. I thought those conditions made for a cool shot. Once we got to the top and started are ski run the clouds were a little thinner allowing just enough light to come through to make this cool effect.Editing
I did some slight color correction to ensure the snow was represented as white and that's it.In my camera bag
My normal kit is a Nikon z7 with a 24-70mm F2.8 lens. However since we were on the ski slopes I opted for a GoPro.Feedback
Cool shots can be found almost anywhere and at any time. The key is to always have a camera with you. In this case as we were skiing having an action cam was key.
