Location
This photo was taken at a wedding in downtown Charlotte. While the beautiful ladies were getting ready, I took the opportunity to take a few ring shots. So I went and found the best area for my lighting and tinkered with the rings to get the best composition, and snapped away.Time
This is by far one of my most favorite shots using the macro lens on my Canon Camera. I needed perfect lighting to achieve the shot. It was midday and the shade on the bench was perfect!Lighting
When I shoot for weddings, the first thing I look for is the lighting. This is key in all of my photography and something I am still trying to master. I have great mentors to help me along the way. Since it was midday and the sun was high in the sky, I was able to get some great lighting. A flash wasn't needed.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon T3. This was my beginners camera. I am now using an Olympus Camera. Which I absolutely love!Inspiration
I absolutely love macro images. And what better lens to capture the beauty of a ring. Macro! The timing was right, the lighting was right, and I had everything I needed to get the shot I was looking for.Editing
The most processing I did with this shot was cropping, color and lighting adjustments. Not much was really needed. In my camera bag
When I shoot weddings, I try to carry little with me as possible. Especially since they are full 8 to 10 hour days. My camera bag is equipped with, well… my camera obviously, my wide lens, my prime lens, and my macro lens. Of course I have all the little things like batteries, lens cloths, etc. I also like to keep some munchies with me in case I get hungry. I don’t want to be the hungry photographer at the wedding now.Feedback
My advice I would give for shooting at weddings or even for macro. Choose lighting first. This is most important. Once you have your lighting just right, go for the composition then background. Lighting is key! Oh and always... HAVE FUN!
