Since the Aboriginies have essentially left the Simpson Desert for the towns most of the wells and water scrapes that sustained them over millenia have filled in or collapsed the by product of this is that there is very little water out there to sustain wildlife and most noticably the Dingo. There has been a concerted effort to address this problem with a couple of Universities re opening some of the old wells and Dingo's once again are coming back. There is nothing as beautiful as a Dingo howling in the desert late at night.
