Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Azrieli Tower, Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Time

It was a late in the morning, and the whole city was covered with thick fog.

Lighting

the light was unusual due to the fog, and it contributed to the soft tones.

Equipment

The photo was taken with 5D Mk.II with 24-105 f/4 IS. didn't use any other equipment.

Inspiration

The photo was taken with a bit of luck, I didn't know what I'm going to shot - and then I notice the girl sitting alone on the stool. I thought that it might be interesting photo - then she suddenly took her phone, and I knew that I got something great at that moment. I was not sure about taking a silhouette, but I had no time to think about that. I gambled and fortunately I believe that I gambled right.

Editing

all the post processing was done with Lightroom. The photo was transformed to B&W - I thought that it contribute to the general mood of the photo. to get more "crisp" edges, I've used brush with high clarity on the floor and on part of the building in the background.

In my camera bag

I prefer to travel light, so usually I've got the camera + 2 lenses and that's all. I prefer to walk with wide/ultra wide lens and another normal/short tele

Feedback

I had a lot of luck with this photo, but I believe that any nice urban background can be used for such silhouette. Personally I find photos with human presence more interesting than those that only show the surroundings, but that more personal preferences.
