Location
This was taken near Langdon, North Dakota, USA.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon hours roughly 45mins after the storm developed (around 5pm CDT)Lighting
This was hard to photograph, there were very strong contrast from the bright daylight and the darkness underneath the storm.Equipment
The storm was moving too quickly to deploy a tripod! This was shot using a Canon T5iInspiration
Storms, weather and extreme weather inspire me greatly. This storm was no exception as it had just dropped a small tornado that lasted roughly 10mins.Editing
Some minor saturation, contrast, clarity boosts but I always remain true to what the scene looked like.In my camera bag
I usually have a DSLR camera, microphone, extra batteries, charger, 55-250mm lens and a camera bag (to go over the camera when it rains).Feedback
Storm photography is pretty tricky because you have to be at the right place at the right time. Storms move fast and change constantly so make sure to grab lots of pictures because you never know which one will turn out great. What I've learnt is to grab a picture when you can, 5mins later (when it;s more convenient) the storm could be gone or not as photogenic.
