Behind The Lens

Location

We took this pictures an old industrial plant where cellulose was made. It is a huge area (even for non-swiss-standards) and half the buildings are forbidden to enter. Now the plant is being dismantled and demolished to pieces and in 2025 new appartment houses will be build on the ground.

Time

It was a sunny day. Because of the hot temperature outside we stayed inside.

Lighting

The sun was on the opposite side of the building, on the side without windows. therefore it was very soft light. we were around 15, 20m away from the Windows. Without the sun we would have needed more than ISO 800.

Equipment

I used my trusty Canon EOS 5DsR, EF 35/1.4 II and a tripod - often I am a bit shaky and the tripod helps me to get the sharpness Aperture: f/1.4 Shutter Speed: 1/125 ISO: 800

Inspiration

I wanted a dark Pictures with alot of black/shadows

Editing

I converted the RAW to black&white and adjusted brightness and contrast - made the vignette more visible .

In my camera bag

Camera, 16-35/4 IS, 24/1.4, 35/1.4, 50/1.4, 85/1.2 and 70-200/2.8 - heavy bag...
