Location
the Picture was taken in a castle in switzerland in january. The Windows are still made of just one-layered glas. now you can imagine what the temperature was despite heating... around 15 degrees in the room, outside -5 degrees.Time
We took the Picture in the afternoon.Lighting
After having used mainly flashes the past 2 years I wanted to go back to my roots and do portraits with just available light as I did 10 years ago.Equipment
I took the picture handheld with my Canon EOS 5DsR and a prime lens Sigma 50/1.4 Art. The setting were ISO 400, Tv 1/320, Av 2.2.Inspiration
I saw the window and thought "I have to use this light for a portrait" - sometimes I see a dress, an accessory or - like here - a light source. I call myself a photographic "hunter-gatherer". Yes, in my case it is true: I have DNA of a Neanderthal man ;-)Editing
I adjusted just brightness and contrast - and, of course, converted the RAW to black&white. There is not much of beauty retouch in this Picture. Angelina has perfect skin!In my camera bag
In my Bag there are my Canon EOS 5DsR, Canon primes 24/1.4, 35/1.4 & 85/1.2, Sigma prime 50/1.4 Art and my 2 zoom lenses 16-35/4.0 & 70-200/2.8 II from Canon. What else? a few clamps, safety pins, needles and threads to tighten dresses.Feedback
I often try to reduce the picture to a minimum, I try not overload an image with props. Don't be afraid of dark spots in the picture - or overexposed parts. if you are in doubt and the model is patient enough make 2 or 3 Pictures with different settings.
