Location
This photo was taken in the Florida Keys in a wildlife reserve.Time
The photo was taken mid afternoon, with ample lighting which was somewhat filtered by the forest canopy.Lighting
No special thought went into the lighting on this photo, but it was taken in mid afternoon so the lighting was filtered by the forest canopy. This provided a nice gentle light setting for the photo.Equipment
This was taken with a Pentax K-5 (or quite possibly my iPhone, this photo was taken a couple of years back). While equipment can be important and contribute to photo quality, the photographer makes the photo. Composition is the key aspect to any photo, which cannot be emulated or changed by equipment outside of toying around with the exposure and contrast settings (and ND filters for long exposure shots).Inspiration
This was not a planned shot. The pattern of the vegetation really stood out to me, and I wanted to take a photo that would capture that magnificent pattern and color.Editing
No post processing was done on this photo (besides contrast adjustments). In my camera bag
I like to keep my bag light, and usually only carry my Pentax camera and 1 or 2 lenses. Sometimes, I will only bring my iPhone. You would be amazed at the quality images you can take with a phone camera. It takes a lot of equipment out of the equation, and allows you to really focus on the landscape and subjects available for you to capture in any given location.Feedback
Just go outside and look around! There are a lot of small patterns and eye drawing colors in vegetation and the landscape that you might not notice if you do not take the time to really look closely at your surroundings.
