Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while literally sitting in bed. There is a shrub next to my bedroom window which birds enjoy sitting in and I am able to get good images of them from my bedroom.

Time

This image was taken in the morning

Lighting

This unique lighting was enhanced in post processing, but just by darkening the darks in order to make the image “pop” more. The shrub provided some decent shade and pretty light for this image.

Equipment

This was shot with a Pentax K3 camera and a 300mm lens.

Inspiration

I was sitting in bed with a camera one morning and a bird dropped into the shrub in front of my window and posed for me.

Editing

Post processing just involved darkening the shadows in order to allow the bird to stand out more and isolate it as the subject of the image.

In my camera bag

A Pentax K3 camera, a 300mm fixed lens, a 50-300mm lens, and a 25mm-50mm lens.

Feedback

Find a shrub birds like to hang out in, lie down nearby, and wait.
