This is such a great shot of mother nature at her most basic and brutal. While it's hard not to feel compassion for the buffalo, the lions have to survive too. Love the choice of b&w.

Great capture, a fine example of being in the right place at the right time

Wow, powerful image! I think the black and white was the perfect choice. I would have been scared out of my whits to witness this hunt and feeding.

Location
I took this shot early morning in the Serengeti, Tanzania.Time
It was around 7am, shortly after sunrise.Lighting
We just came past and witnessed the hunt. The two lions stalked the buffalo for a while before they attacked. I went as low as possible in the car to be on eyelevel with the lions.Equipment
Canon 5d3 with a 70-200mm f2.8Inspiration
My main focus during the trip was to focus on big cats. After a long wait 2 days before, I was lucky to get this. I wanted to create more drama with the black and whiteEditing
Used Lightroom to edit colour and contrast. So image has been edited but no retouchingIn my camera bag
On the safari I had my canon 5d2 and 5d3. I also had 24-70, 70-200 and 400mm lens with me as well as a bunch of cards. On fashion shoots I leave the 400mm at home. Love using reflector but obviously couldn't use those at the safariFeedback
Be patient and if possible get your own driver. I was by myself for 6 days only with my driver. That way I could focus on what I wanted and we had times when we were waiting for 2hrs, often with nothing happening. With other people in the car that would be impossible
