Location
I had set up underneath Sunset Cliffs in Sand Diego California, an excellent - but difficult to access surf spot during low tide. i had originally aimed to shoot a pure landscape but just as the light began to fade, a random local yogi who had been patiently waiting behind me asked if i minded if she entered my frame and stepped to the edge of the water. We met by coincidence, but she was kind enough to flow through several poses for me through the last of the light.Time
sunset in octoberLighting
I was fortunate enough here to have light and color reflected all around by the pools and the clouds. The girl doing yoga was a random and fortunate addition which really made the scene - but initially my aim was only to shoot the reflectionsEquipment
I used my usual go-to landscape setup, a canon 6D with a rokinon 14mm f/2.8 and a slik tripod, with the center post inverted to get my perspective nice and low.Inspiration
In this case, it honestly spontaneously came together. I was able to string together a short series of images with her and I love every one.Editing
very minimal. i brightened the model up a bit to keep it from being a sillhouette, and did some basic color adjustments and brought up the shadows to be mostly true to life.In my camera bag
ive changed my setup around to be very minimal, due to almost being dunked my rogue waves numerous times. when shooting seascapes now i risk only my camera and lens, and the bag mostly only contains spre batteries, a remote release and a lens cloth or two. my insurance company is sure to appreciate this.Feedback
look to the sky. if you see clouds, race to your favorite spot and catch sunset. just dont forget to enjoy it, as its all to easy to get sucked into your camera and really miss the moment.
