Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph at a local park.

Time

I arrived at the park around 8:45 to set up and take some test shots. I ended up waiting until 9 to capture this shot.

Lighting

The light source I used was just a portable LED light I purchased at Walmart. Just goes to show you don't always have to spend a fortune on fancy equipment.

Equipment

Aside for the portable light, I used my tripod, Canon rebel T3 with the standard 18mm-55mm lens. I did not use a flash.

Inspiration

There is just something about swing sets at parks that bring out child memories for me. I wanted to make it a little more magical by doing the image at night as well as have the subject looking up into the star filled sky remembering those simpler days.

Editing

Yes, I did. I used Photoshop to add the stars in the sky, remove the light source I had attacked to the swing set, as well as doing some basic adjustments (such as color, levels, blurring...ect.).

In my camera bag

I usually carry my Canon Rebel with its standard lens, my telephoto lens, a lens cloth, a couple lens filters, and tissue paper and a rubber band (just in case I need to diffuse my flash).

Feedback

Make sure to use a tripod!
