"Yes, you got the perfect lens and can photograph me", said the little bird.

What a great capture! Hard to believe the chickadee is so much smaller than the camera! Congratulations on being a finalist.

Location
This was shot just outside of Kingston Ontario in a Nature PreserveTime
This was about mid-morning, we'd spent a few hours already snowshoeing around hoping to see some of the owls that these are known for. We ended up not seeing any owls at all but the chickadees were most accommodating.Lighting
Just ambient lighting, it was fairly overcast and snowing so the lighting was fairly flat.Equipment
My main camera is a Nikon D7000, this was shot with a Tamron 150-600mm at 150mm as I was fairly close.Inspiration
We'd spent a few hours already walking around, and were getting a little frustrated at not seeing anything other than chickadees so we fed them some seeds and played with them a bit. We put some on our hats and then tried this shot that I'd seen elsewhere online.Editing
Fairly minimal post work, mostly contrast and shadows as the light was fairly flat.In my camera bag
I usually have my main body, an 18-55, 50mm, 55-300mm and in a separate case, the 150-600mm. I also usually have a polarizer and a variable ND filter and flash.Feedback
Don't be afraid to change what you're looking for. We set out for owls here but decided to have some fun when they didn't cooperate. Have a goal in mind but don't be afraid to change/modify your goals if nature, in any of her forms, doesn't cooperate. And don't be afraid to get a little silly! :)
