This is absolutely stunning! I love that it's coming out of the darkness.

Location
During an afternoon Cruise gathering of classice cars on Sparks St.(a pedestrian mall street) in Ottawa, CanadaTime
This was taken in the late afternoon, I'd walked up and down a few times and kept coming back to this car trying different angles.Lighting
The lighting was ok but not spectacular, just fairly even, not harsh. It was later in the afternoon so there was a nice golden glow but not into the golden hour yet.Equipment
This was taken hand-held with a Nikon D5000, no flash, just ambient lightInspiration
I really enjoy the classic cars and motorcycles. The work and care and love that some people put into these machines is amazing and I like to try and show that.Editing
I added a a fair amount of contrast, shadow and dark vignette. Honestly I was just playing around with the sliders and stumbled across this look. :)In my camera bag
I currently carry a Nikon D7000 as my main body. For lenses I have a 70-300mm, 18-50mm, 50mm, an assortment of filters and wireless remote, a few flash transceivers and at least one Yongnuo flash.Feedback
Try to figure out the main or best feature of the vehicle. The owners usually need little encouragement ;) Once you figure out what feature you want to highlight then play with different angles and compositions. You rarely need the entire vehicle in the shot if your focus is one particular feature. I ended up giving the owner a print of this shot. I think seeing how excited he was over the shot was one of the best photography moments I've had. He had spent, who knows how many hours and how much money, working on this car and caring for it, and he was all excited over the shot I'd taken.
