The first object that captured my attention is the resemblance of an eye in the top mid image. Great capture! Love the colors!

Location
Moraine lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.Time
Sunrise, which when I visited was at 6:15 am.Lighting
I got really lucky with the light that morning, beautiful red sunrise that is lighting the mountains.Equipment
Nikon D5000 with a Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens and a Nikon 77mm Polarizing filter. I used Sirui T-2005X tripod with K-10x ball head to steady the camera.Inspiration
The beautiful scenery inspired the photo, I included the canoes on the right to give the photo scale.Editing
Yes, this is an HDR done with Photomatix, I also used Nik Color Efex pro and used Photoshop CS5 to combine the layers. In my camera bag
Back then I had a D5000 but now I shoot with a Nikon D600. I have always used Tokina lens and now that I have a full frame camera I shoot with a often shoot with a Tokina 17-35mm f/4. I also carry the following lenses: Nikon 24-85mm, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, Nikon 70-300mm.Feedback
First scout out your location before hand, I came to this location the day before during the day and knew exactly where I wanted to catch the sunrise. I find scouting especially important for sunrise shoots because I am normally still half asleep when I get to the location. Also, it is important to get there early. I arrived at this location around 5:30am and waited for the sun to rise, getting lots of other good shots as it came up.
