Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my living room where the cats like to relax. I wait for them to look at me, or give a proper pose.

Time

The time of day was approximately 4pm, when the sun was giving the natural light through the windows. The cats love sitting and sleeping in the sunlight during the day, so I like to take advantage of that, when I can.

Lighting

This was in the afternoon, so there was ideal lighting coming from the sun through the windows. The cats like to sleep or lay around that area, and I will photograph them using the natural light.

Equipment

I used a Nikon Coolpix S3500. I keep that camera on me at all times for simple photos. This was all I needed. I had the natural lighting from the sun.

Inspiration

My cat, Sweet Pea, was very relaxed in the window above our couch, and I saw the opportunity to get some photos of her without bothering her relaxation time. I just sat, and clicked.

Editing

I cropped out the area of the eyes.

In my camera bag

A camera, flash, wide lens, zoom, several SD cards.

Feedback

Watch for the opportunity with the animals, but do your best to let them stay at ease by taking advantage of the natural lighting, so you do not have to use a flash.
