Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo coming back from the Illiana Volcano to Kenai.

Time

It was sometime in the afternoon. It is hard to tell the time of day in Alaska due to the sun staying up most of the day.

Lighting

Interestingly, where we were fishing, we had clear skies, and the sun was out. Going to there and coming back, it was dreary, and cloudy, so that cloudy, dreary light is what is in the photo.

Equipment

It was simply a point and shoot camera, so I needed no other equipment.

Inspiration

Well, this was the biggest fish I had ever caught in my life, and I love to fish, so we took a few pictures. There were eight of us fishing for halibut, 2 had gotten seasick (very seasoned fishermen to). I caught just one halibut, while the others caught 2 a piece, but mine was the biggest, even though it was only a juvenile.

Editing

I did some cropping, light balancing, and leveling to get everything even, but nothing special.

In my camera bag

On this trip, I just had a point and shoot that I borrowed from a friend. I left my bag back at the cabin. I had a Nikon D3100 with a wide angle and 300mm zoom. I usually bring a tripod to. I have a variety of SD cards.

Feedback

Bring your sea legs, and make sure that you do not get seasick. The picture was quite simple. I would only say take several of them, so that you have a variety to choose from.
