I took this photo from a hill in Ludington State Park where my bestie and I stopped for lunch. There was a perfect view through the trees of the Ludington North Breakwater Light. It looked amazing with the sky and water being just right. I got excited and took the shot.Time
I believe it was around one o'clock in the afternoon that we stopped for lunch. I took the shot after we had our peanut butter and jelly on pita bread, so probably about 1:30.Lighting
The sun was being generous that day. No extra lighting was needed.Equipment
I shot with my Nikon D3400 and my Nikon 70-300mm lens. No tripod.Inspiration
My friend Vivienne and I had been slowly driving through the beautiful forest in Ludington State Park, stopping at every turnout for pictures of the sand dunes and Lake Michigan. When we pulled off for lunch, this scene called out to me. So I ate first because I was very hungry. But on the way back down the hillside, about halfway down, I zoomed in for a better frame and took the shot. It was a perfect day.Editing
I believe I left this one as is, and didn't edit. These blues just popped! In my camera bag
I carry in my bag my Nikon D3400, which is a beautiful metallic red and takes amazing pictures, and three lenses. The 70-300mm came with the camera when I purchased it. Since then, I have bought a Sigma 10-20mm, which I used a LOT out West, and my Sigma 105mm macro lens, which I absolutely love. I also carry a remote for when I finally learn to shoot the night sky, 4 batteries, lens wipes, two chargers, and the receipts for all the SD cards I bought throughout the year, lol.Feedback
My advice is to go places that are interesting and beautiful, like the forest or mountains or lakes. Be there. Take it all in. Find the stillness, and take the shot.
