The first harvest took place in 1252. so Pape Clément is the oldest vineyard in Bordeaux. At that time it was called Domaine de la Mothe, and it was a gift from Berald of Goth to his brother Bertrand, who is known in the history of the Catholic Church as Pope Clement V.
I took this photo during a recent visit. I have done tens of visits to vineyards and wine production facilities, this one was the best I ever attended and the wines by far the best I have ever tried. I certainly recommend both things: the visit and the wines.
