Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my first evening in Kyrgyztan in the small town of Kadzi Say on the banks of Lake Izzykkul. The sun was going down over one of the world's deepest lakes and the glow with the vegetation was magical.

Time

We had just finished dinner and walked down to the lake to catch the last rays of the evening.

Lighting

I wanted the sun to peep through the blades of grass and vegetation on the edge of the lake.

Equipment

I only had my Samsung phone with me. My traveling companion -- Sony mirrorless camera was sitting in a bag of rice to dry out after getting wet when I stumbled into a river in Kazakhstan. So this was all I had to capture the moment. You have to remember that these are remote areas with no access to camera shops etc.

Inspiration

The sun, the remote location, and a super deep lake.

Editing

Nothing.

In my camera bag

I travel with my Sony a6500 and a couple of lenses. I used to be a full frame Nikon guy, but as I get older I prefer to travel with less gear. I like the Sony. It is small, light and unobtrusive.

Feedback

Always enjoy the moment and do not let taking the photograph detract from the beauty in front of you.
