Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph in one of my favorite places in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Cinesphere is the world's first permanent IMAX movie theater. Located on the grounds of Ontario Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This photograph is part of my architecture series.

Time

I took this photo on the afternoon of August 11, 2019. Around 5:00 pm. I remember it well. I spent the entire Sunday photographing around Ontario Place. Waiting for the perfect moment to achieve this reflection in the water. That day I managed to capture photos very like the ones I had seen published from the Cinesphere that I like.

Lighting

In this photograph, I did not use lighting. Only natural light.

Equipment

This specific photograph was shot in the little Canon PowerShot ELPH 180. I used the tabletop tripod Neewer ck-30. I love this mini gear. I always carry them in my backpack as a second camera. Sometimes I get high quality or interesting images.

Inspiration

From the first moment I discovered this place, the Ontario place, I fell in love with this area. Special with the Cinesphere. The texture of this building. The geographical position in the middle of the city. And above all the theater, it is the largest IMAX theater in Ontario. These are some of the things that inspired me to take this photo. Since I arrived in Toronto. I have created a series of photographs inspired by the architecture of the city. A subject that fascinates me.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

I always carry in my backpack my Canon 5D Mark II. Two or three lenses Canon 75-300 mm, Sigma Zoom 70-210 mm and Canon 28-90 mm. Also,a second little camera like Canon PowerShot ELPH 180. Tripods: The tabletop tripod Neewer ck-30. And my forever Velbon CX-686 Video Tripod with Fluid Pan Head. The Viltrox JY-710 Wireless Timer Remote Controller for Canon 1D Series/5D/5DII. Also, extras lens cleaning wipes. extra card, and always the battery charger and Somes Hoya pro 1 Digital filters.

Feedback

My best advice is to always observe our surroundings with wide eyes. And then, capture them with the camera. Have a lot of patience. And above all scouting, scouting. I love planning my outings to places that I find interesting to photograph. I always make a map of the places that I would like to photograph and that inspire me to write stories. I love to go back to the same place many times until I find the light or the image that helps me capture the unexpected.
