The first time I saw a Cardinal in Nova Scotia, in the middle of the grey winter, it gave me irrational joy. Since then, I've read about them, and found that Unlike most birds, cardinals don't typically migrate in the winter seasons; they stand tall and proud during difficult times and come out stronger than before. Their bright colours remind us of all the good things to come and how bright always comes through the dark and cold conditions.
Here I am, prepared for another Canadian winter with my camera ready to continue catching the joy on my way to grey days.
